In this paper, a high pressure liquid chromatographic screening procedure for therapeutic 1,4- benzodiazepines and some hypnotic, antiepileptic and analeptic drugs was described that could be available for clinical and forensic toxicological purposes. The study was performed on a RP-CN- column with UV- Detection at 254 nm and mixture of acetonitrile-water (25:75) was used as eluent. Retention data was expressed as capacity factors (k’) by using potassium nitrate as unretained compound and the detection limits of the analysed drug substances were determined in standard solutions and in spiked urine samples.
