In this study a method is described which was developed for quantitative determination of lead in whole blood. This method is consisted of extraction with dithizon and quantitative determination of lead by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS). After precipitating the blood proteins with a solution of trichloroacetic acid, lead was extracted with dithizon. The lead-dithizonate complex was dissociated with diluted hydrochloric acid and lead was determined by means of FAAS. This method could be used to determine the blood lead levels of either non-exposed or professionally lead exposed people. Keywords :
